I actually enjoyed the film more then the novel, and Im always a 'the books better' kind of guy. Middle of the road for King, in my opinion. The Dead Zone has elements that make it a potential cult hit - the supernatural, political conspiracy, a mysterious future, and even Smith's tortured soul - but it also has multiple weaknesses that keep it from being a true success. I think its a good book, but nothing mind blowing.
